كنيسة مار أوسابيوس - عبيدات

بُنيت الكنيسة الحاليّة سنة ١٨٨٩ بسعي الخوري يوسف نصر فوق مقامِ أقدم كان بدوره بُني مكان هيكلٍ وثنيّ ما زالت آثاره ظاهرة في البناء: وهي كناية عن حجرٍ يحوي كتابة يونانيّة وبعض الأعمدة. أمّا تسمية الكنيسة مار أوسابيوس فنادرة لأن الموارنة غالبًا ما نادوه بلقبه السريانيّ حوشب. تشتهر الكنيسة بوجود جحر للنذورات، فمار اوسابيوس شفيع المصابين بالثآليل. تضم الكنيسة لوحة محليّة لمار حوشب مجهولة الراسم.

The church of St Eusebius - Obeidat

The current church was built in 1889 under the mandate of Fr. Youssef Naser over an older shrine, that was built over a pagan temple with some of its ruins still visible: some columns and an epitaph with greek inscriptions. The dedication of the church to St Eusebius is unique because the maronites usually call him by his Syriac attribute Hawsheb meaning the wise one. The church is famous for being a pilgrimage site for people with warts. The church holds a local icon of the saint drawn by an unknown painter.

دير مار ميخائيل – بنابيل

يعود الدّير للقرن السابع عشر. هو وَقف من الشيخ بو عقل هارون وأولاده. كان بتصرُّف الرهبانيَّة اللبنانيَّة سنة ١٧١٩، وفي سنة ١٧٤٠، تسلَّمه الرهبان الأنطونيُّون، فتسلَّم الدير المطران يواصاف البسكنتاوي، وباشر تجديد بنائه سنة ١٧٥٢، وخصَّصه لسكنى الراهبات العابدات، لكنَّه عاد فسلَّمه إلى الرهبانيَّة اللبنانيَّة، وتسلَّم المطران بدلًا منه دير مار ساسين بسكنتا، ونقل إليه الراهبات. أمَّا البناء وتجديده فقد شَهد عدَّة مراحل. الكنيسة الحاليّة بُنيت سنة ١٨٥٥. تَجدر الإشارة على أنَّ دير بنابيل قد تعرَّض لنكباتٍ عديدةٍ على غرار باقي الأديار، فقد نهبته العساكر المصريَّة سنة ١٨٤٠. كذلك لم يسلم من الأذى أثناء أحداث ١٨٦٠. لكنَّ الرهبانيَّة كانت تهبُّ كلَّ مرَّة إلى ترميمه. وقد جدَّدت في بناء الدير، وأحدثت فيه إصلاحات عدَّة سنة ١٩٠١. أمَّا بناؤه الحاليّ فيعود إلى سنة ١٩٤٧.

The Monastery of St. Michael - Bnabil

The monastery dates back to the 17th century. It was originally donated by Sheikh Bou Akl Haroun and his sons. In 1719, the monastery was given to the Beledite order. However, in 1740, it was transferred to the Antonine Fathers. Later on, in 1752, Bishop Youwassaf el Beskentawi took over and converted the monastery into a nunnery. Subsequently, the bishop returned it to the Beledites and acquired the Monastery of St. Sassine in Baskinta for his nuns. Over the years, the monastery underwent several restorations. The construction of the church took place in 1855. Unfortunately, the building suffered damage during the presence of the Egyptian army in 1840 and the war of 1860. It was eventually restored in 1901 and assumed its final form in 1943.

محبسة مار سمعان العاموديّ - بقرقاشا

هذه المحبسة المبنيّة في حرف شيرٍ صخريّ، تعود للقرون الوسطى. بحسب البطريرك الدويهيّ بنتها سنة ١١١٢ تقلا إبنة الخوري باسيل البشرّاني على إسم مار جرجس ومار ضوميط، وما برحت وتحوّلت على اسم مار سمعان العاموديّ. يشهد على ذلك كتاب الريش قُريان السريانيّ الخاص بالمحبسة، الذي يعود لسنة ١٢٤٢، وهو محفوظ في جامعة السلامانكا.

St Simon the stylite hermitage - Bqorqasha

The hermitage is built on the slope of a rocky cliff in the holy valley of Qannoubin. It dates back according to patriarch Stephen Al Douwaihy to year 1112 when Thekle the daughter of a priest named Basil of Bsharre built a hermitage dedicated to Sts George and Doumith, that was rededicated to St Simon the stylite. A Syriac lectionary proper to the hermitage, the Rish Qoryan, dating back to 1242, that was discovered and conserved in Salamanca’s university, attests this story.
